Press Release Body = A controversial new site, said to be the first international parking space marketplace in the world, has just been launched.
The site www.findaparkingspace.com links owners of empty car parking spaces with people looking for somewhere to park their car, and has attracted attention by offering free advertisements to parking space renters, buyers and sellers from all over the world.
Parking spaces on offer range from underground spots in high rise New York City apartment buildings to driveways in London.
Parking space advertisers may be using the site to reduce their rent, but not everyone is happy. Renting out car parking spaces for non-residential use is against body corporate rules in some buildings. And there is also concern from some local governments that residents may acquire additional permits then rent them out to others.
A spokesman for the site, Natalie Same, said that everyone considering renting out a car parking space should ensure they were not in breach of the law prior to placing an advertisement.
